Rebecca was born and raised in East Los Angeles. Her father was from Jalisco, Mexico, and instilled in a love for her Mexican roots. She attended St. Alphonsus Elementary School in East Los Angeles and graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Montebello in 1978. She attended  Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York for her freshman year of college. She then transferred to USC sophomore year and graduated in 1983. In 1985 she married and had one daughter who graduated from SHM High School and received her Master's Degree from USC. Rebecca also has one granddaughter who attends CSHM High School. Rebecca began her teaching career in 1983 at Resurrection Elementary School in Boyle Heights, and then taught at Sacred Heart of Mary High School from 1984-1991 and became the Dean of Students. When Cantwell High School and Sacred Heart of Mary High School merged in 1991, she was hired as the Dean of Students for the new school. Since then, she has had several roles at CSHM. She is currently the Admissions Director and the English Department Chair. She teaches both English and biology, and is also co-chair of the Alumni Committee. Rebecca has enjoyed traveling throughout Mexico and Europe, and has a love for painting which she hopes to pursue more when she retires one day. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her family, friends, and dog. She is entering her 31st year here at CSHM.
