Scholarship Program

 

CSHM's passion is to encourage students to strive for academic excellence. It is in this spirit that merit awards for the 2017 - 2018 academic school year are being offered. We excitedly await the applications of students for all of next year's classes.  

 

CSHM Scholarship (for current 8th Graders / Incoming Freshmen)

At CSHM student's community involvement as well as a high academic standard, are achievements to be rewarded. These scholarships are available for incoming Freshmen that exhibit the character of a true a CSHM student. This scholarship in the amount of $1,500 for the Freshman year is automatically renewed as a Gold (Sophomore), Navy (Junior) and Cardinal (Senior) scholarship, provided that the student maintains a qualifying academic and disciplinary standard.

 

Restrictions:

The CSHM Scholarship is open to all incoming freshmen that do not already receive a scholarship through CSHM.

 

Application acceptance is CLOSED.

*Applications postmarked or received after the January 31st deadline will not be considered.

 

Applicant requirements:

  • The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • The student must write the Applications Board a letter addressing the nature of their community involvement and also write about a specific experience with the community that stands out in their memory.  
  • An Extracurricular Activity Sheet must be filled out and signed by the activity supervisor such as a coach, administrator, adviser or teacher.

 

Scholarship recipients must maintain the following for the scholarship to be renewed each year:

  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Be in good standing with the Dean of Students (as defined in the parent/student handbook)

 

Alumni Scholarship (Freshmen)

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary High School has proudly been “shaping young men and women of character,” for over 25 years. We have had our alumni graduate from universities such as Notre Dame, Pennsylvania State University, UCLA, USC, Stanford, Harvard, Oregon State University, Cal State LA, Cal State Long Beach, and Cal State Fullerton just to name a few. This $2500 scholarship is made possible by our dedicated Alumni who work diligently to fundraise and give back to CSHM. Only one Alumni Scholarship is awarded per year to an outstanding incoming Freshmen who personifies the heart of what it means to be a CSHM Student.

 

Applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Submit a completed Recommendation Form to be filled out by student's current school's Principal  
  • The student must write the Applications Board a letter addressing the nature of their community involvement and also write about a specific experience with the community that stands out in their memory.  
  • An Extracurricular Activity Sheet must be filled out and signed by the activity supervisor such as a coach, administrator, advisor or teacher. 
  • Write a 300 or more word essay describing how the student exhibits leadership within his or her community.

 

Scholarship recipients must maintain the following for the scholarship to be renewed each year:

  • Maintains a GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Be in good standing with the Dean of Students (as defined in the parent/student handbook)
  • Complete all duties as a Cardinal Representative *definition in club section
 
THE APPLICATION BELOW IS FOR BOTH SCHOLARSHIPS. IF YOU APPLY FOR THE CSHM SCHOLARSHIPS YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED IN THE ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANT POOL.

 

 

Gold, Navy, & Cardinal Scholarships (Sophomore, Junior, and Senior)

These scholarships are available for any returning or transferring student except for Freshmen (see CSHM Scholarship). Students who show academic achievement as well as personal stewardship are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship is in the amount of $1,500 for the first year and is automatically renewed as a Navy or Cardinal Scholarship for subsequent years as long as the student maintains qualifying standards.

 

Application acceptance is CLOSED.

*Applications that are postmarked and received after the January 31st deadline will not be considered.

 

Applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above
  • Student must be involved in one or more extracurricular activities
  • He or she must also exhibit leadership within their school or community

 

Applicant must submit the following documentation:

  • An Extracurricular Activity Sheet must be filled out and signed by the activity supervisor such as a coach, administrator, advisor or teacher. 
  • Write a 300 or more word essay describing how the student exhibits leadership within his or her community and school.

 Giovanna Scholarship

Mrs. Giovanna Sergi had a tremendous impact on Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary community. Every student who walks through the halls of CSHM is enriched by the legacy of excellence Mrs. Sergi imparted on the school, in which she was the Vice Principal. This memorial scholarship for $2000 is available once every four years and will be available to incoming Freshman in the Fall of 2019.    

 

AWARD PROGRAM

 

High School Placement Test Award

Every year CSHM offers a financial award to applicants who achieve one of the top five scores on the High School Placement Test. This award honors students for their outstanding achievements and follows the student through all four years of attendance. The selected student will be notified in their acceptance letter of receiving the award. This particular award is given at the discretion of the principal and the CSHM administration and does not require an application. 

 

Qualifications for consideration for Giovanna Scholarship:

  • Student must achieve a 4.0 GPA or higher
  • Is in good standing with the Dean of Students at their prior school
